A blank canvas can be as exciting as it is intimidating, and we love it! This wonderful property was in need of all that is required for a striking and beautiful exterior. We had to start from scratch and are so proud of what we created: an imposing landscaped garden that match the rest of contemporary and elegant looks of the property.
The lawn and paving is neat and keep the focus on the grand arched entrance, while the flower beds to the side adds height and interesting mix of greens. We especially love the Bismarck Palms’ (Bismarckia nobilis) blueish silver colours with its gorgeous stiff, waxy leaves. It creates length, density and colouring.
A few facts around the Bismarck Palm:
• They are easy to grow in the right environment as they are adaptable to a wide range of soils and prefer to have good drainage as the Bismarck does not like to have root rot.
• The Bismarck palm can adapt to either acidic or alkaline soil and prefers to be watered directly into the root system or sprayed through the palm heart.
• The trunks can grow up to 1200 mm in diameter, slightly bulging at the base
• In their natural habitat they can reach above 25 meters in height but usually get no taller than 12 m in cultivation.
• When planting the Bismarck palm make sure to not to cover up any part of the trunk, as this will lead to problems as the Bismarck palm is susceptible to be eaten by microorganisms that live naturally in soil and other medium.
• Do not plant them too close to a wall as the large leaves need room to grow
