We love adding pot plants to a layout. Not only are they great for greening interior spaces and can be moved around, they add colour to areas outside too while also adding height that would sometimes only be achieved by building raised flower beds. You can change them as your style and needs change and they can be updated easily.
We often play around with different textures and styles, not only for the pots, but for the plants too. Playing is easy, getting it right is the trick. In this picture you can see the long elongated and striped, dpiky leaves in contrast with the rounded shapes of the smaller pot. Add to that a play with colour as the sun shines on the leaves, and you have created an interesting focus point.
There are alot to love when working with potted plants, but key ingredients and three top tips when dealing with potted plants will make them last:
1. Choose the correct pot.
Not only do you want a pot that you like, it also needs to be functional for the plant with drainage holes. This will avoid the plant from drowning or the soil getting mouldy.
2. Potting soil.
When selecting your potting soil, make sure it is good quality potting soil that often contains extra nutrients or fertilizers, something that goes a long way in keeping your plants strong and healthy.
3. Watering: getting it right.
You will need to know exactly what amount and frequency your plant will need. Ask your nursery for advice and especially mention that the plant will be in a pot.
