A hedge in training.

Bougainvillaeas make great hedges and are ideal for adding colour to your garden.

The bougainvillaea is an extremely versatile plant. It is special because it can be trained to grow into any form. They can be left to grow larger and then pruned away to form a hedge. As seen in this photo, the hedge is large enough to tidy up and pruned to the desired shape.

They are ideal for anything from short heights to round shrubs. This hedge can be as tall, short, or wide as desired.

If you have a new or young plant, begin training the bougainvillaea plants by tying the canes to the trellis, fence, or larger neighbouring trees. Use garden wire or soft pieces of string to loosely tie the plant. Once the plant is a stronger, larger size, start training and pruning.

Since bougainvillaea blooms, it is a nice change and colourful option to add to your garden.

They are waterwise too.
